JTA is a family-focused OT and AAC speech-language therapy private practice providing authentic, high quality evaluation and therapy services. We primarily support toddlers, children and teens with development delays and / or disabilities, and we specialize in:

Our speech language practice centers around each individual that we work with, by identifying and supporting customized solutions.

For more impaired individuals, we focus on using AAC technology, communication devices and communication applications for iDevices.

For all our clients, we specialize in delayed speech and language, receptive language, and expressive language.

Occupational therapy evaluations and therapy (updated)

Our OT services are our newest and fastest growing offering. We focus on developing and improving abilities in areas including visual perceptual-motor skills, play, sensory regulation, and strength building.

Our work supports delayed fine motor skills, visual perceptual-motor skills, activities of daily living, play skills, sensory processing and strengthening.

Assistive technology evaluations and training (updated)

We are experts in assistive technology. We have worked with industry leaders for 35+ years, and collaborate with families to ensure that children have the best, individualized technologies to live a fulfilled life. Assistive technology evaluations include wheelchair positioning, access to assistive technology, mobility (driving power wheelchairs), pre-mobility (learning to drive power wheelchairs), and sleep positioning.

Consultative, coaching and training services (updated)

JTA has run a variety of different coaching and consulting sessions. These range from single day to multi-week long trainings supporting schools, educators, therapists and others globally. We can train your leaders and teams to set them up for more success working with those they service on a daily basis.

We offer a variety of different speech-language evaluations. They focus on the use of AAC technology, tools, and strategies which may include communication devices and communication applications for iDevices.

Delayed fine motor skills:
Focused on improving fine motor skills

Play skills:
Focusing on motoric component of play skills, motor imitation, expanding play schemas, turn taking

Visual perceptual-motor skills:
Sorting, prewriting, bilateral hand coordination, cutting, identification, cognition

Sensory processing:
Identify, initiate for self-regulation

Activities of Daily Living:
Dressing, undressing, bathing, hygiene, light meal preparation

Strengthening:
Improving core strength, stability, and endurance

Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC):

Focuses on using AAC technology, tools and strategies which may include communication devices and communication applications for iDevices

Delayed speech and language: Focuses on increasing speech and language skills

Receptive language:
Focuses on increasing children’s ability to understand spoken language

Expressive language:
Focuses on increasing children’s ability to communicate and participate in their daily lives using speech and/or communication technology

Assistive technology evaluations and training

Positioning evaluations:
Focuses on providing individuals with optimal postural support within an adaptive seating system or mobility base (such as an adaptive stroller or wheelchair) to increase stability and function.

Access evaluations and training: Focuses on determining the optimal method(s) an individual uses to control an assistive technology device, such as a communication device or tablet. These access methods include direct selection using hands or eyes (eye gaze), head pointing, and/or auditory scanning with switches. Ongoing training to develop access skills is also available.

Premobilty and mobility evaluations and training:
Focuses on optimizing an individual’s independent mobility through a properly configured manual wheelchair, adapted ride-on toy, and/or a power wheelchair. Ongoing training to develop premobility and mobility skills is also available.

Sleep positioning evaluations: Focuses on identifying and supporting optimal positioning for individuals with significant physical disabilities to maintain range of motion, minimize and/or prevent orthopedic changes while encouraging a good night’s sleep.
